beyond basic: make your wardrobe work for you
It is not a coincidence that Spring is when things blossom AND when we all decide we’re ready to get out of the house, hopefully wearing fabulous outfits. All of a sudden the trees look less depressing, and I’m ready to shop, get dressed up and go somewhere!
My son turns one in a few weeks and I’m going to break out of my postpartum bubble of buying basics (okay, save for the perfect white tee, but we’ve covered that). A girl can only buy so many pairs of black pants with an elastic waistband.
However, I am not looking for a complete overhaul. A few thoughtful additions and tweaks can go a long way.
So, what am I using to breathe new life into my outfits and maximize my wardrobe???
First- I’m upgrading my airport outfit. Last week I wore an off shoulder sweatshirt I bought from an instagram ad and these pants- both great pieces, just not together! I want to look cool and comfortable- so I bought this to upgrade the vibe. Tweaking the sweatshirt made the whole look feel better so no need to change anything else- will wear it with nylon pants, a big bag, and sneakers.
Next- I’d really like to show off the graphic tees (I love this one omg) I’ve collected over the years…albeit in a more sophisticated way than how I’m currently wearing them (over bike shorts to the gym). The solution? these pants (40% off, btw), a cool vintage tote and classic low heels.
I have a handful of really great cropped knits.. that I’d like to be able to wear without fear of overexposure. I’ll be layering them over a simple cotton maxi or with this tank and jeans. EASY!

Buying cute sets has changed my life, specifically on days where I sleep through my alarm. Just add cool sneakers and a good statement accessory and no one will even notice you haven’t washed your hair.

And lastly, I have to dress up more….and my dress selection is…. limited! I’m not really a dress person on a day to day basis due to certain lifestyle choices having young kids. So…. I’m shopping. Spring is a great time to buy dresses simply because there are so many fun options. If you have a lot of events coming up write them all out and see if there’s any rewear potential (for example- buying for Miami and a bachelorette, similar-ish moodboards). I got this dress for an engagement party and can’t wait to pull it out again this summer.
Spring jewels and hair accessories from Jennifer Behr’s new collection. I love the aventurine cuff. If you’re looking for a beaded tassel bag a la the Conner Ives runway, I highly recommend browsing here- also love this under $250 option. The new Emme Parsons collection has arrived- these are an absolute dream! Top of my current wishlist? this tote.
Braindead x Malin and Goetz collab is here. I love the scent, I love the packaging, and I think the candles would make a very good hostess gift!
My sister got me this brush for Christmas last year and it’s changed my life (specifically, my hair).
A shoe brand that gives Celine/Miu Miu vibes but is roughly half the price- enter Jude. I got these red slides a few months go and have loved them.
Already thinking about how I’m gonna tote all my kids stuff this summer- what about this under $200 Loewe-esque raffia bag?
Fellow bleach blondes- I am testing the new K18 purple shampoo. Yes, I found out about it from my favorite Mormon wife (Miranda, obviously).
xx, Liz

The graphic tee look is soOoOo good, and I’ll never get over your engagement party dress.
